New Brunswick Mayor Bill Starbuck said the city is working to avoid the type of tragedy last year when six people died at a large fireworks display.

The city is looking at using its authority over fireworks — something the provincial government has not said it would do — and the Ontario Provincial Police to make 바카라sure the safety of patrons is guaranteed, Starbuck said.

The council passed a motion Tuesday calling on the government to 우리카지노work with the state to make sure fireworks in New Brunswick are handled safely.

The city will also examine the possibility of banning all fireworks that firework enthusiasts plan to use to mark a special occasion, said David Blongton, a spokesperson for the government.

The provincial government is also reviewing its rules for the supply of fireworks, to see whether they should apply to all types of fireworks, Blongton said.

“We’re looking at the whole process to see if there’s an 카지노 사이트opportunity to look at it from all sides, from the state to the city, from the provincial government,” Blongton said. “We want to ensure the safety and security of everybody, and that’s why we’ve made the recommendation to the province.”

In 2013, there were a total of 6,836 fireworks displays across New Brunswick, an increase from 3,092 in 2012, according to the province.

In the coming years, provincial fireworks regulations are expected to increase dramatically, Blongton said.

“There have already been many safety developments, starting with licensing. It’s going to become much more formal.”

Blongton said he expects that a draft of the province’s policy for fireworks that will be put out later this month will include a recommendation of banning all fireworks.

The city plans to follow the draft through to finalization, he said.

City council heard about the 2015 fire at the same time it heard about the 2012 fire that was sparked by a display at the Revelry Theatre in Saint John. The city closed the public holiday parade that season in the city.
