Egypt road crash kills 21 and injures 24 – AFP

More than 20 civilians have reportedly been killed by air strikes in western Syria during the weekend.

At least 40 people have been killed after three air strikes and artillery shelling hit western Syria on Sunday.
A woman in an Iraqi refugee camp has told Al Jazeera that 20 people were killed in air strikes on her neighbourhood in Raqqa province on Sunday morning.
Iraqi and international forces are intensifying their air raids on Raqqa, which fell to the Islamic State in 2014. The last air raid took place on Friday, in the north.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has reported two separate cases of civilians killed in the air strikes in Raqqa. The first, at around 7am local time Sunday, was reported in Hawar al-Safireh.
Meanwhile, the Observatory says two strikes have hit a hospital in the city, one of which damaged nearby houses.
Iraq has imposed a curfew in Mosul, the Iraqi city which is currently held by the Islamic State.
Al Jazeera’s Rana Jawad, reporting from the northern Syrian city of Tal Tamr, said Iraqi forces and the Kurdish Peshmerga were targeting al-Mursitpinar military base, which houses Islamic State equipment, at the northern edge of the city.
Iraqi troops and Peshmerga forces began an offensive on Tal Tamr on Sunday, taking it back to Mosul. It is now the de facto Iraqi capital of al-Anbar Province.
