Federer faces Argentine rival María de Cervantes in the final of the French Open for his second Wimbledon title.

The Argentine won on match point in the final, as he cruised to a second-set win over former champion Rafael Nadal.

But Federer, who beat Andy Murray in last year’s semi-final at Madison Square Garden in his first Grand Slam semi-final since 1990, will not be able to boast that second-place medal.

He’ll have to reach the second round of the French Open to claim a third Grand Slam title in as many years and, if he does, he will be only just one of three men to have reached a French Open final in three of the last four years.

“It will give us some motivation,” said Federer, whose team is without injured player Martina Navratilova.

“So we will be just as good as before – there are no excuses in French Open.

“We are just trying to win the first place in a very competitive tournament for us and in the semi-final, the crowd will show that. But I feel it will give us more mot우리카지노ivation as well to keep working.”

The Argentine had also failed to make the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2016-17 and missed out in the Australian Open final in February on points after having won the semi-final two weeks earlier against Tomas Berdych.

“As players we can only play for the Grand Slam, but if you won your first title, it just shows how talented we are,” Federer said.

“So this will give us a little bit more motivation.

“For sure, with all the players who have just been given so much chance by so many different places and so many chances, all we can do is keep working.”

In the semi-final, Federer lost to Marin Cilic in five sets as he finished a distant fourth. However, he did not go to the ground with a scorecard in the second of four sets to give him a chance of reaching the semis.
